We’re always on the hunt for the most effective beauty product available to us. We all want a facial scrub that will get rid of our blackheads for good, a conditioner that leaves our hair full of body, a stretch mark cream that will make the scars fade forever – the list goes on.
Though we’re all looking for beauty products that actually work, there’s a chance we may be using them already. A lot of people don’t realize they’re not getting the full effect of their beauty products because they aren’t using them correctly.
Are you unsatisfied with your beauty regiment? Are you thinking about experimenting with some new products? Before you do, make sure you’re getting the most out of your beauty products with these quick tips.
1. Don’t Limit Your Options
There are people out there who truly believe that finding cheap beauty products that actually work is pure myth.
Some people buy exclusively from upscale beauty department stores and brand names based on the assumption that you get what you pay for. The truth is, some luxury beauty products genuinely have rare and effective ingredients, but there are tons of drugstore beauty products that work perfectly fine and are even comparable to more costly products.
2. Follow Directions!
One of the most important rules of using beauty products is also the most overlooked — follow the directions!
You would be surprised at how many people ask me for recommendations on beauty products that actually work because their beauty products aren’t effective, and then stare at me in confusion when I ask them if they followed the directions on the packaging.
Product instructions aren’t just packaging filler. They’re there because the manufacturer has determined the best way to use the product for optimum results. Even something as little as using too much or too little of a product can ruin its effectiveness.
3. Give it a Chance to Work
How can you know if your beauty products are working if you’re constantly switching them out? Even the best cosmetic products work best when used over time. So if you like to experiment with new skin and hair care products, just know that you may not be getting the full effect.
Here’s something else to think about: some beauty products just don’t work well with each other, especially if they’re different brands. When you use certain beauty products together, the ingredients in the different formulas can sometimes cause an unintended chemical reaction, making them less effective.
So if you have a skin and hair care regiment that works for you, stick with it!
4. Don’t Water it Down!
This is a hard one — we all do it! We’ve all added a little water to our shampoo to hold us over until we get a chance to buy some more.
We like to think of water as neutral, but it can really put a damper on a product’s effectiveness sometimes. When you add water to your beauty products, you may be ruining the formula! Think about it: your beauty products have a specific formula with carefully chosen ingredients to make the treatment work. Diluting the formula may ruin its effectiveness.
Find the Best Cosmetic Products by Using Them as Intended
Not all beauty products are high quality– that’s the truth. There are eyeliners that rub right off. There are body washes that badly dry out your skin.
BUT that doesn’t mean that the best cosmetic products are out of reach. Hopefully, you won’t have to look any farther than your bathroom cabinet to find them.
