Just call me Detective David, delivering beauty’s truth serum once again! Today I’m putting the spotlight on cellulite treatment — something that most of the beauty industry is treating the entirely wrong way.
How to Get Rid of Cellulite Naturally (3 FAST Home Remedies)
Having some “junk in your trunk” or some “jiggle in your wiggle” isn’t bad. But for some people, it gets entirely out of control and you end up with cellulite — that lumpy not-so-sexy fat that makes your skin look dimpled and wrinkled. I want to help you learn how to get rid of cellulite so you can feel more confident and embrace your inner power.
What is cellulite?
We need to understand what causes cellulite before we can come up with an effective way to get rid of it. So what is cellulite, and how do we get it?
Essentially, cellulite is just the name for fat cells that don’t lay smoothly under the connective tissue, which makes our skin look lumpy.
One of the biggest misconceptions about cellulite is that you get it just by being overweight. But actually, some of the thinnest, fittest women in the world have it. Celebrities get it. Even men get it!
Many in the beauty industry have long held that cellulite is more of a cosmetic issue, but that myth is starting to come undone. For some people, it’s simply visual, but for others, it’s much more than that. People are reporting that cellulite can actually hurt from time to time and is very sensitive to bruising and slower healing.
And get this: studies have shown that cellulite is pretty much nonexistent in countries without industrialization. That means that there has to be something else at work here in the great cellulite mystery.
Scientists are now determining that the toxins and chemicals we are exposed to in our industrial society may play a large role in cellulite.
How do you get rid of cellulite?
Knowing what we know now, it’s clear that getting rid of cellulite is going to take more than a change in diet and some serious cardio. It takes a full body detox to boost your lymph system and embracing a healthy lifestyle overall.
1. Unclog your lymphatic system
When it comes to getting rid of cellulite, embracing a healthier diet and toning muscle is certainly a step forward, but studies are now showing that the key to defeating cellulite is unclogging our lymphatic system.
Flushing your lymph system will help flush the fatty deposits from our bodies. (Don’t worry — it’s a lot easier than it sounds.)
Many holistic doctors have demonstrated success in reducing the appearance of cellulite by eliminating sugar and even chemicals we may regularly ingest, like fluoride and chlorine. Using a detox diet of your choice and drinking plenty of water will also help flush out your system.
I suggest a diet that avoids trans fats but embraces healthy saturated fats. Instead of snacking on chips, try almonds and walnuts. If you have a sweet tooth like me, you may want to switch to a natural sweetener like Stevia.
It’s also important to get the lymph system circulating through an exercise routine. Cardio and weight training are important, but many experts are suggesting that adding flowing movement exercises such as yoga and tai chi will really boost the lymph system.
2. Start exercising
Increasing your muscle tone will help burn off that fat that is creating the cellulite to begin with. Some exercises may strengthen the connective tissue, which will make it more difficult for fat cells to push through and cause the appearance of cellulite.
But this isn’t easy, nor is it fast — that’s why so many people turn to invasive surgeries like liposuction to get rid of their cellulite.
3. Make Your Own Cellulite Scrub
There are plenty of cellulite treatments out there. Some spas offer cellulite wraps. There’s also an endless supply of cellulite cream available at many stores. People willing to go under the knife can get cosmetic surgery.
For those of us who prefer a safe, more natural solution – I have the answer! Here is my favorite DIY cellulite scrub, best used in the shower.
Caffeine Cellulite Scrub Recipe
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup ground coffee
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 teaspoons flaxseed oil
- A few drops of peppermint essential oil
Combine all coffee and brown sugar together and use your hands to mix well. Combine the oils and add to the coffee and sugar mixture slowly. Be sure to thoroughly and evenly mix as you are combining all of the ingredients.
Now that you’ve got all of the ingredients mixed together, you can massage over any areas of concern using slow circular massaging motions. This is best done in a hot shower when pores are open and you can rinse easily — this is going to get a little messy.
Cellulite? So What!
Using a topical treatment like the one above, detoxing, increasing your cardio workout, and embracing flowing exercises like yoga or tai chi can all help keep you cellulite-free for years to come.
And remember, even if you do have some cellulite, it’s not a big deal! It doesn’t take anything away from your beauty, your brains or your personality. If you ever start to feel self-conscious about it, just slap on a smile and repeat after me: “Cellulite? So what!”
